I bought the Clarks Pace walking shoes specifically for my Hong Kong trip, placing a lot of trust in the Clarks brand—especially given my situation. I had undergone knee surgery about 4 months prior, and choosing the right footwear was critical for me.
Before the trip, my recovery had been progressing very well. I was able to walk long distances comfortably using my usual, well-known sports shoes, and I even trained on the treadmill for 30 minutes continuously without any pain. So I felt confident that I was ready for the demands of a walking-intensive trip like Hong Kong.
Unfortunately, the Clarks Pace turned out to be a big disappointment.
From Day 1 itself, I started experiencing knee stiffness, followed by pain and eventually limping while walking. The shoes simply did not provide the level of cushioning, support, or stability that I needed—especially for someone recovering from knee surgery. Instead of supporting my recovery, they set me back during the trip.
What’s most frustrating is that this happened despite careful preparation beforehand. The only major change was switching from my usual sports shoes to the Clarks Pace, and the difference was very noticeable—in a negative way.
Based on my experience, the Clarks Pace is not suitable for serious walking or travel. For those with knee concerns or recovering from injury, I would strongly advise sticking to proven sports footwear instead. Personally, I would only consider Clarks for casual use moving forward, not for performance or walking-intensive situations.
At the same time, my wife—who has never had any issues with other well-known walking or sports shoe brands—also found the shoes uncomfortable. She constantly complained about discomfort throughout the trip, particularly during long walks and when navigating stairs. This clearly shows the issue wasn’t just specific to my condition, but rather the overall performance of the shoe.
What’s most frustrating is that both of us had no issues previously with other shoes under similar or even more demanding conditions. The only major change was switching to the Clarks Pace, and the negative impact was immediate and consistent.
We ordered two pairs of Clarks Pace. The shoes are awesome. But due to Clark's ordering system defect, we did not include the GWP (Flasks). Then Clark just does not admit their mistake pointed or found out by us and does not send over the GWP to us. They want to make us in a difficult situation by returning the ordered shoes and ask us to reorder same including the GWP this time. Ordering system is altered good after we pinpointed their mistakes. When talking to our friends, they all have the same feeling as us that this is the masterpiece of Clark's personnel who are trying to fool the customers. We emailed to Clark and all the three staff KI, SG and JK ( We do not know what names are these. Short forms?) keep asking us the only way is to return the shoes and reorder including the GWP. We turned down the suggestion. Until now we still have a very bad impression about this Clark ordering.
